Ready to reel in some monster stripers and blues off the legendary waters of Cape Cod? Meat Wagon Fishing Charters has you covered with our action-packed 5-hour morning trips. We'll cruise out to the fish-rich grounds near Monomoy Island and Chatham, where the bite is hot and the scenery is pure New England coastal magic. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting your feet wet, Captain Chris knows exactly where to put you on the fish. So grab your buddies, pack some snacks, and let's hit the water for some wicked good Cape Cod fishing!
Our trips run from May 20th through October 30th, prime time for striped bass and bluefish action in these parts. We'll meet up bright and early at the dock, load up the Meat Wagon (that's our sweet fishing machine), and motor out to where the fish are biting. The nearshore waters around Monomoy and Chatham are like a buffet for big bass and blues, so we don't have to go far to find the action. Captain Chris has been fishing these grounds for years, so he knows all the secret spots and what techniques are working on any given day. We'll spend a solid 5 hours on the water, giving you plenty of time to hook into some quality fish and soak in that classic Cape Cod atmosphere.
We're all about putting fish in the boat, so we'll use whatever methods are getting it done. Trolling is often the ticket for covering water and finding active fish. We'll drag some tasty-looking lures behind the boat, mimicking the local baitfish that stripers and blues can't resist. When we mark a school or find some fishy structure, we'll break out the spinning gear for a more hands-on approach. Nothing beats the thrill of casting a lure and feeling that solid "thump" when a big striper slams it! Captain Chris will show you the ropes if you're new to these techniques, and even experienced anglers might pick up a new trick or two. We provide all the gear you need, top-notch stuff that can handle whatever these hard-fighting fish dish out.
"Very nice captain. And a very very good fishing boat... see you guys again next year for sure." - Wagner
Striped Bass: The undisputed kings of Northeast inshore fishing, stripers are the main event on our Cape Cod charters. These powerful, silver-sided bruisers with their distinctive black stripes can grow to over 50 pounds in these waters. They're smart, strong fighters that'll test your skills and your gear. Stripers start showing up in May as they migrate north, with the action really heating up in June and July. They love to hang around structure and rips, ambushing baitfish. When you hook into a big "cow" striper, hold on tight – it's a battle you won't soon forget!
Bluefish: If striped bass are the gentlemen of Cape Cod fishing, bluefish are the rowdy party crashers. These toothy, aggressive fish are pure muscle and attitude. They range from 2-3 pound "snappers" up to 15+ pound "gators" that'll make your drag scream. Blues often travel in large schools, creating exciting blitzes where the water seems to boil with feeding fish. They'll hit just about any lure and fight like crazy all the way to the boat. The best bluefish action typically runs from June through September. While some folks turn their noses up at eating blues, a properly handled bluefish makes for some mighty tasty eating – we'll show you how to care for your catch.

Bluefish are a summertime favorite around here. These aggressive fighters usually run 3-10 pounds, but can get up to 20. You'll find them in bays, tidal rivers, and along beaches from June through October. Blues travel in schools, so when you find one, you've often found many. They're known for their ferocious feeding frenzies - it's a sight to see them churning up the water as they attack bait fish. Blues put up a great fight and are fun to catch, especially on light tackle. The meat has a strong flavor, but it's delicious when fresh. For the best action, look for birds working over the water - that often means bluefish are driving bait to the surface. Chunk baits or shiny lures both work well. Just watch those teeth when you're unhooking them!
Stripers are one of our top targets here on Cape Cod. These powerful fish typically run 20-40 pounds, but the big ones can hit 70+ pounds. You'll find them along shorelines, near structure, and in moving water. They're most active at dawn and dusk when the water's cooler. Stripers put up an awesome fight and taste great too. The meat is sweet and flaky - perfect for grilling. We usually catch them May through October, with the fall run being prime time. That's when they're fattening up for winter and feeding aggressively. If you want to land a big one, try live eels at night around jetties or inlets. Just be ready for some serious action when they hit!
